The Five Minute Room

Create breathing room in just 5 minutes

Rustic Elegance

This week I was fortunate to find myself in an incredible home in Breckenridge, CO. Soaring ceilings with exposed beams, unique corners for games and relaxing, romantic escapes, and amazing views were just a few of the moments that captured my heart and attention. I immediately began thinking of ways to bring that rustic beauty back to the city in an elegant way. Fading are the dark plaids, animal paraphernalia, and heavy woods in suffocating quantities. Today, rustic elegance mixes paisley with leather, cashmere with stone, and glass with iron and wood. The key to bringing these elements into your home can be as simple as integrating a few, well placed furniture pieces with smaller, impactful accessories. As evidenced by the picture here, collecting elements such as wooden chess sets, rustic picture frames, bowls and boxes, and candles; and combining them with stone tables, soft furnishings in suede, leather and fur, you can create that rustic feel in any room.
